California Man Accused of Defrauding Several Government Agencies

The subject of an Eyewitness News investigation has been arrested on fraud charges. 

California Healthcare Services investigators accuse James Cohan of defrauding several government agencies, including Social Security and Medi-Cal, of more than $100,000.

Cohan claimed to be disabled and filed 180 lawsuits against businesses, saying they violated disability laws. But an Eyewitness News investigation found him hiking up a steep mountain the same day he went to court claiming he was disabled.

The Sun Valley man has been convicted in the past of firearms violations and running an illegal medical dispensary.
