North Dakota Man Charged with Threatening to Blow Up Social Security Office

MINOT, N.D. — A North Dakota man has been indicted in federal court for allegedly threatening to blow up a Social Security office in Minot.

Fifty-four-year-old Kevin Skiles is charged with threatening to damage or destroy property by means of explosive. He has pleaded not guilty.

Authorities say Skiles left a voicemail message on the phone of a Social Security representative after identifying himself, giving his social security number, and leaving his phone number.

Skiles allegedly said in the message that he would blow up the Social Security office if someone did not call him back.

Court documents show that Skiles told an FBI agent that he left the threatening message, but did not mean it.

A federal public defender was not available for comment.
