Georgia Woman Pleads Guilty to Fraudulently Receiving Social Security Benefits

A Georgia woman has pleaded guilty in Mississippi to failing to report a woMan''s death and collecting about $141,000 in Social Security benefits over 26 years.

Minnie Carr Williams was indicted in federal court in Mississippi on July 24, 2012. The indictment charged her with two counts related to the benefits and concealing the death of Elizabeth Strong. The indictment did not describe the relationship between the two women.

Williams pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Aberdeen. Court records say she is from Riverdale, Ga. The case originated in West Point, Miss., where Strong had lived. She pleaded guilty to one count and faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

Williams had been free on $5,000 bond.
