Oklahoma Man Sentenced for Supplemental Security Income Fraud

From the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Oklahoma:

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced today that JOHN RICHARD FLOURNOY, age 47, of Coalgate, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 24 months of probation and was ordered to pay $13,402 in restitution, for THEFT OF GOVERNMENT FUNDS, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 641 and a FORFEITURE ALLEGATION.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General.  The defendant was indicted in December 2015 and pled guilty in January 2016.

The Indictment alleged that beginning in or about February, 2011, and continuing until on or about December 23, 2013, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, did willfully and knowingly steal and purloin money of the Social Security Administration, a department or agency of the United States, namely, Social Security Administration Supplemental Security Income payments to which he knew he was not entitled, having a value in excess of $1,000.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over the hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace represented the United States.
