The Social Security Administration (SSA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has launched its new website at http://oig.ssa.gov. The dramatically redesigned website was developed under the auspices of OIG’s Office of External Relations, working with Chevy Chase, Maryland-based Rock Creek Strategic Marketing, and demonstrates the OIG’s commitment to delivering its message to Congress, the media, and the public in real time and in dynamic terms.

Together with Rock Creek Strategic Marketing, the OIG has developed a site that offers:
  • Constantly updated content related to OIG audits, investigations, news, and events;
  • Direct access for the public to communicate with OIG and to report allegations of Social Security fraud, waste, or abuse, provide feedback about the site, and submit general correspondence;
  • Streamlined searching of OIG data and more intuitive website navigation;
  • The structure and technology necessary to accommodate the OIG’s coming launch of multiple Social Media tools, as the OIG continues to expand its online presence and increase its communication with stakeholders.
The site’s new homepage welcomes visitors with a professional color palette, a clean and uncluttered design, and rotating images with featured content centered on the OIG’s mission to protect and improve SSA’s programs and operations.

“We in the OIG strive to operate in an arena of transparency, accountability, and accessibility,” said SSA Inspector General Patrick P. O’Carroll, Jr. “We designed this website with our constituents in mind, and we look forward to sharing our work and promoting the OIG mission.”

The SSA Office of the Inspector General is directly responsible for promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of SSA programs and operations, and for  preventing and detecting fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in such programs and operations. OIG accomplishes this through a comprehensive program of audits, evaluations, and investigations related to SSA’s programs and operations.
